Atlantic Basin Initiative Gathers Eminent People Group in Angola

Dr. Juan José Daboub, The Daboub Partnership Chairman and CEO, recently participated in the Atlantic Basin Initiative group of eminent people event in Luanda, Angola. 

At the gathering, Dr. Daboub was tasked with working on finance structuring for infrastructure projects in the Atlantic region. Participants at the event included former Presidents José María Aznar of Spain, Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria, Jorge Quiroga of Bolivia and Miguel Ángel Rodríguez of Costa Rica, as well as former United States Secretary of Energy Bill Richardson.

Topics of private sector investment in the Atlantic Basin were focused on enabling the environment, working toward solutions for the most vulnerable and establishing partnerships with various stakeholders.

Under the Luanda Declaration, which is dedicated to uniting Africa against crime, there are four main goals: 

  • CREATE speedy and efficient mutual assistance and asset tracking
  • SHARE expertise through common training and the development of best practices
  • PROVIDE for adequate and harmonized legislative measures
  • ENHANCE African initiatives for purposes of co-operation and information sharing
